During our first CMO project in 2006, we showed The Light of the World in a very small village called Khashchovanya. By the time of that showing, we had already experienced a fair amount of resistance from Catholic priests in other villages. Thus I was quite surprised when we saw the priest from Khashchovanya present at our showing along with his children! He viewed the entire film, and listened without objection to my Gospel presentation at the end.

It’s been a while since we’ve posted any pictures of Abby and Rebekah. Here’s a sampling of some family shots.
ABS from Nikki’s Point of View
Thursday, May 21st, 2009“Nikki” is what we have affectionately dubbed our Nikon D40 camera. Every Tuesday, she goes with us to English Club and Bible study to help document the evening’s events. The following are a few of her shots from recent weeks.
God is continuing to bless this ministry–we are building good friendships and people are hearing the gospel preached. Please continue to pray that those who are coming would repent and believe in Christ!
Report from Tuesday Night
Friday, April 24th, 2009Each Tuesday evening, we continue to meet together with Ukrainians for English Club and Audio Bible Study. (ABS) “Audio” refers to the fact that each time Joshua, Jessie, or another missionary preaches from the Word of God, the messages are being recorded in digital format so that multiple Ukrainians can have access to them over time. Although the first half of the evening is a focus on English, the preaching time is always done in Ukrainian so that the nationals can hear the Word of God clearly in their own language. This ministry continues to grow and we are encouraged by how God has blessed it! New people often visit our group, and others have become regular attendees. Thank you to everyone who is consistently lifting this ministry up in prayer. Please pray with us that it would bear fruit unto salvation, and that people would be “turned from the error of their way” unto Christ, who is THE way.
Proving that ALL are under sin
Friday, April 10th, 2009In the first three chapters of the book of Romans, Paul provides us with irrefutable evidence that all men are indeed under sin. A firm grasp of this concept is foundational in understanding the Gospel. Contrary to what is commonly taught, Paul does not point to a birth defect as the basis for the sinner’s blame. Rather, he points out that God judges men who hold truth in unrighteousness. (Rom. 1:18) That is, those who understand good, embrace it as a worthy standard of conduct, even judge others by it, and yet still commit sin by violating their own standard. (See Matt. 7:1-2)
Beginning with Romans 1:18, Paul invites us into the courtroom to observe the sinful acts of the wicked: failure to glorify God, ungratefulness, murder, fornication, homosexuality, deceit, envy, idolatry, disobedience to parents, etc., etc., etc. Then, as we point our fingers in agreement with God and condemn those who have committed such evil, Paul points right back at us: “Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.” All men stand blameworthy before God, condemned by their own mouths. As the master said to the servant in Luke 19:22, “Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant.”
Snapshots from Tuesday Night
Thursday, March 26th, 2009“Pray everyday, all the time, everywhere.”
Thursday, March 19th, 2009In Ukraine, it is not uncommon to find people who think that prayer must be read from a book or recited from an already assembled collection. Many people often pray the Lord’s prayer in a repetitious fashion, but have little idea of telling their hearts to God. The simplicity of coming to God as a Father and asking for what you need, or offering thanksgiving and worship, is sometimes foreign to them.
Jessie did a wonderful job of explaining to our Tuesday night group what the Bible says about prayer. He touched on what, where, when, why, and how to pray. We all came away encouraged to “pray everyday, all the time, everywhere.”
